Default General question about email settings

Please Login to Remove!

So, i did see this question asked a few times before, but it seems that everybody had different results / answers.

SO thats why i am going to make this thread for the definitive answer!

So which option does what?

Confirm delivery / read seems like the setting that you change to flag emails you SEND so that your RECIPIENT's client tells you when the message has been read.

Send Receipts seems like the setting you enable to let others know when you have read your messages.

---

Still, that's just my speculation! There are different forums over the net that clam different things when it comes to these settings, so can somebody (with credentials / know how) set this straight?

Confirm Delivery/Read = asking the recipient

Send Delivery/Read = allow sending of delivery/read when receiving an email with a "confirm delivery/read" within it.

Thats what i'd though, but some forums posts say other wise... btu the majority agree with your post, so i guess thats how it is.

Also, the send (read) receipts has the "prompt" option which i'm thinking means you're prompted to respond to somebody else's request... so that should confirm your post as well.

Exactly.
Even if you didn't know, it would be common sense for it to be that way round.

Well their phrasing is open to lots of interpretations; hence this post.

its only common sense if you make some (shaky) assumptions about who the label's indefinite objects are
