Default BB 8310 sometimes turns on sometimes not. HELP !

Please Login to Remove!

I recently bought this phone on Ebay. Nice phone, doesn't show much use, however when inserting the battery it doesn't turn on. I need to pull the battery out and insert it several times before it actually turns the phone on.
Sometimes I have to wait for a very long time (up to an hour) for the phone to accept the battery.
When it turns on it works perfectly, I can even plug it to the charger and it charges.
The battery I am using is fully charged (I have several good batteries).
When I plug it to the charger when the phone hasn't turn on, doesn't turn it on either.
When I try to reboot (alt+shift+del) the screen goes blank and stays that way until I take the battery out.
The charging port seems to be OK and the battery contacts look clean.
Anyone with any ideas I'll appreciate their input.
Thanks in advance.

Just guessing at possibilities here... I wonder if it suffered water damage at some time before you acquired it. Or else some sort of mechanical damage causing intermittent connection some place.

Try cleaning the contacts with a q-tip dipped into the aclohol (both battery and bb). I wounder if this is a software issue... Try wiping the bb using the JL_Cmder and then upgrading to the most recent OS for your device.

As stated before - just guessing...

I took it apart and according to my limited knowledge, it seems that there is no water damage. I cleaned it real good inside, the stickers are not pink nor red.
It seems to me that it is a rebooting problem. When taking the battery out and also when pressing alt+shift+del as explained above.
Thanks. Ed

I did the upgrade as well. It was very difficult because during the upgrade process the phone gets disconnected and connected to the computer, then I had to wait to turn the phone on and continue. It was finally done and the phone works perfectly when is on. Thanks.

It is curious. You would think you would notice some misbehavior when it is running. I don't get it.

I am thinking this is a rebooting problem.

I also have an HP desktop that has a similar problem. If you click on restart it usually remains on at the end of the cycle but the screen turns off whereas the PC itself remains on not allowing to do anything. It needs to be shut off (by pressing and holding the start button) and then start over again.

So, in conclusion, I think that the phone is not rebooting. Some problem maybe in the software. I hope any of the geniuses here would come with an idea or possible solution.

Thanks.
