I'm using a Curve 8320 with OS 4.5.0.81 on T-Mobile.

Lately I have been having a massive memory leak issue. I go from 11MB to 8MB in just 30 minutes, and then to 6MB within 2 hours. It's ridiculous having to do battery pulls SEVERAL times a day.

Is there an app that can detect what's doing this? Or something I can do to track apps using memory?

Anything would be great, thanks for the help!

You said that you've been having the problem "lately"... what changed "lately" to make the problem more noticeable? Did you install an app? upgrade the OS? What changed that you are now seeing this symptom?

Are you closing all apps when you are done with them (as opposed to just using the ESC key)? The biggest culprit are apps that run in the background...

What apps do you have on your phone? A list may be helpful, as there are some poorly written 3rd party apps out there... and some not-so-poorly-written apps that, by their nature/purpose can have that affect (e.g, some RSS readers, some Twitter apps).

I have multiple apps installed recently, I wouldn't know which one is doing it, this is why I ask if there is an app that could detect it....

Have you tried to shut down any running apps to see if it stops? Experiment a bit and maybe you can find the App thats causing the issue.
The basic BB should not be a problem. dont forget any bluetooth or GPS apps.

make sure wi-fi is also off if not being used.

Wifi can have a negative impact on battery life, but not memory...

Use the application switcher to figure what's running and shut any un-needed apps down.

Also I would follow in the instruction in the memory thread stickied in this forum. 11 MB after a battery pull is a bit low. I would aim for 15-20 if possible

Does the 8320 even have Wi-Fi?

8310 was gps 8320 was wifi if i remember right.

dont quote me on this, but i think some early builds of 4.5 had really bad memory leaks. i would say try an os upgrade...

You can try updating to OS 4.5.0.182 like wabbit says. It's here: http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...ilanguage.html

Later OS 4.5 versions were definitely better than earlier ones, but the problem didn't get fixed until 4.6, which unfortunately was never released for the 8320. Putting all your pictures/music/custom ringtones etc, on a media card should help if you're not doing that already. If you start with only 11 MB of free memory you're under the safety limit already. Since you can't install BB apps to the media card, you have to clean out a bunch of apps you have installed.

There is no "detector app" to find memory leak. Some apps are known memory hogs though. There are some other things you can do, but in your case it sounds like it will not buy you enough free memory to solve your issue.
