Default Desktop Manager Not Responding

Please Login to Remove!

I have DM 4.7. I have tried unsuccessfully to connect to it, but each time after I enter the password of my phone, it says that it has encountered and needs to close. I went to the FAQ and followed the post (even though I had to make a couple adjustments since I'm running Windows 7), but nothing good came of it.
As a matter of fact, when I connected my phone to my laptop, now the phone does not show it's charging, and it is also saying that the driver device did not install. As per the instructions in the FAQ, I opted to rename the folder instead of deleting it. (Ok, as I was typing that, a message came up that the device was installed properly). I have also just tried to run the DM, and got the same results.
Any help on this will be appreciated.

There are many issues with windows 7 and DM on the RIM support site. Search and see if one will help.

Why use the old version of Desktop Manager.
Download the newest version and try that.

Yea, but the new version and my phone don't get along for some reason. I could never get it to recognize my phone.

Ok, I just uninstalled the old version of DM I had and installed the 5.0. Still same results. After I input my password, I get that error saying it is shutting, and will search for a solution. This is really bothersome now as I have not been able to do a back-up in a week now. That kind'a scares me.
Anyone with help would be appreciated.

This sounds more like an issue with windows 7 rather than desktop manager.

As tsac indicated in post #2 above, there are several windows 7 / desktop manager fixes provided on the RIM support site.

Well, after trying the above site, and going over to RIM's support forums, I see that I am not the only one having this problem with 64bit Windows 7. The only thing that is strange is that it was fine for so long, then just decided to stop working.
Also, would anyone know of an alternative to backing up my phone? I'm trying to just save anything I get on it into my laptop manually, but that gets tedious. I'll probably just be stuck with it though until RIM comes up with a fix.

Ok, here we go again.
After the problem seemed to resolve itself a couple weeks ago, I am now having the same issue with my DM. I am wondering if my phone could be causing the issues? I have not made any changes or recent downloads to my laptop, but have done so with my phone.

Just outa curiosity, do you have the version of DM with or without "Media Manager"? If you have the version with Media Manager try the one without.
