Hi, I couldn't find these on the forum, but perhaps I'm not searching meticulously enough. Anyhow, here are my questions..
(1) What does disabling the radio do and where can I find this option?
(2) What's the difference between that and turning off the data services?
(3) What's the difference between the "off" mode and "silent" mode for the ring profiles?
(4) If I disable the data services and radio when overseas, will I still get charged for calls that come in even if they don't show up while I'm there? (I just want to be able to use email)
1) it stops all communication to and from the device, voice calls,sms, mms, email, bbm, etc. You can find this under your Manage Connections icon.
2) Turning Data Services off stops data from being sent/received from the device (BBM, PIN Messages, Browser, Email, etc) but still allows voice calls and SMS.
3) Silent still shows the red LED indicator, Off does not.
4) If you only turn data Services off, then yes. If you turn the wireless radio off, then you won't receive voice calls.

Well, if you were to do it via the browser, you could use wi-fi.
If you want the push email directly to the device, then turning off data services would stop that.
You woul also encur extras charges for roaming data.

Oh I see. So if I turn off data services and the radio, then I shut off all communication to my phone, but I can still use the wi-fi? This seems like a more economical approach for just checking email.
There are some reports that you have to have data services: ON. activate wi-fi.
once completely activated, uncheck mobile network.
To still be able to use wi-fi.
