Somebody knows if is possible to do an in place upgrade from W2K3 R3 with BES 5.0.1 to W2K8 R2?
My company whants to consolidate servers to W2K8 R2 and ask me if the only server with W2K3 and BES 5.0.1 (the rest are W2K8 NO R2).

Is your 2K3 server a 64Bit version ?
I never tried this, but, AFAIK there is no upgrade path from a 32Bit to a 64bit system.
If you have a 64bit system, make an image of the system an try the upgrade on the copy. Even if I guess, this should work, it is safer to try it out before running in trouble afterwards.

Don't think an in place upgrade would work. I tried to install a fresh copy of 2k8 R2 and BES 5 failed miserably. I just had all sorts of issues on multiple installs and ended up rolling back to Server 2003.

In Place upgrade won't work. I tested it in my test lab. 2K* has entirely different architecture than of 2K3. No Luck
