Smile Guess I'm 'stuck' with my Bold. Not so bad.

I have had 3 Bold 9000's - one froze up, one had a firmware problem and currently, my trackball is double-clicking, wearing out from my constant use. I called AT&T, and they said they were going to upgrade me to the next model up, which is the 9700. That is their policy, to give you an upgrade on the third replacement, if you choose.

I was excited, slightly larger screen resolution, more memory. Then on the day that they were supposed to send it, I called and they said, no, they are not going to do it. They don't have any, ahem, 9700's. Which seems like BS to me. So you sell 9700's, and don't have any of them for the warranty replacement folks? Well, that's what I was told. I am going to assume they were telling the truth.

They offered me a Curve 8310, an HTC Pure or an HTC Tilt 2, or another Bold 9000.

I was like, "A Curve? I have a Bold, there is no way I'm going to downgrade to a Curve. And I am only interested in a BlackBerry device, not Windows Slow-bile."

The guy was like, "Well, the Bold 9000 is the best we have to offer you."

I looked at the 9700 in the store, and maybe that is not so bad - the 9700 has smaller keys, and the screen is smaller. Bigger is better for my aging eyes and clumsy fingers.

I guess the old adage applies: "Love the one you're with".

Wirelessly posted (White and Nerdy)

Try upgrading your firmware. It fixes problems about 90 percent of times

Well, I'm on OS 5.0.0.411 now. I just want it to be perfect, and double-clicking the trackball is not perfect. I will probably have my replacement 9000 this afternoon, so we will see.
