RIP to a man who did more to end world hunger than probably anyone else in the world in the last 200 years. Posted here because it requires belief in evolution, which is less than universal on this forum.

One of the best plant breeders of all time. The dwarf wheat varieties withstood lodging, a main culprit in yield reductions in small grain crops. An all around very smart guy. And he was a Minnesota alum as well!

Penn and Teller had a pretty good overview of his accomplishments. Has a few expletives that are not safe for work. There are also youtube videos of him receivng the Congressional Gold Medal. He also won the Nobel prize and the Presidential Medal of Freedom (or something along those lines, maybe another Congressional medal).
