HTTP Streaming Video, Blackberry 9000 simulator

I've heard a lot of rumors going back and forth that the Blackberry 9000 can stream HTTP video. I've heard an equal amount of rumors that the SIMULATOR of the 9000 can not.
Either way, I've yet to get HTTP streaming video working in either environment.
Is there any official documentation that mentions the capabilities of the device or it's simulator with regards to streaming video? If it CAN stream HTTP, then how do you do it? What are some known good files I can test with?
I'm attempting to stream two different ways.
The first way is by using the default web browser, and navigating to a http website that has a .3gp file hosted on it. This lets me open the file, it attempts to buffer and stream, but then says that it needs me to download it (once I do, it plays).
The second way is using the sample video player code, on the blackberry website (I cannot provide links right now, only 2 posts):
h t t p : / / w w w . blackberry. com/knowledgecenterpublic/livelink.exe/fetch/2000/348583/800332/1089414/How_To_-_Play_video_within_a_BlackBerry_smartphone_applica tion.html?nodeid=1383173&vernum=0
provided at the above link. I can succesfully play local videos, but when attempting to stream (via replacing the local URL with a web one, OR by using an InputStream from an HttpConnection Object) it does not work. It does not crash, it does not have any errors, as far as I can tell it believes that it's playing video, but nothing shows up on the screen.
Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Or, even better, if the blackberry is even capable of doing what I'm trying to get it to do?
