Question Is there any way to put the Blackberry Router on proxy

Please Login to Remove!

We are trying to keep the Blackberry Router on proxy. Help needed on this. Is there any Config file to do this?

Note: Our Blackberry Router service is separately installed on a different system and our BES runs on different system.

Thanks,
Kishore

What do you mean by "proxy"? You already have the Router on a separate server in the DMZ as I can read from your post. So do you want to move the server to another machine?

No. I don't want to move the server. But i want to capture the request(HTTP) format that is passing through the router to MDS. So, is there any way that i can capture the request that is going to Blackberry Router?

So you want to put an HTTP proxy between the BES and the BB Router service and the monitor the HTTP traffic.

I don't think this is possible as the traffic between the BES and the router on port 3101 is not HTTP.

If you want to monitor and control where your users are surfing to on their BB devices, you have to do that through the HTTP proxy that is between the BES server and the Internet. It has nothing to do with the BB router.

Thanks for your quick reply. Actually i want to test the load on the MDS. So, i want to send multiple requests to the MDS without using Device/Simulator. For this, i am trying to capture the format of the request that will be sent to MDS so that i can send the simultaneous requests using some load testing tool.

Any clue on this? or is there any way that i can send multiple(10000 approx) requests at the same time using a device?

Onemore clarification: Approximately how many simultaneous requests an MDS handles?

I don't know if there is a stress test tool for the BB. Probably a question to ask RIM directly. You can also consult their documentation for sizing guidelines.

In addition, why exactly are you so concerned? Are you seeing performance issues? Each BES can have up to 2000 users and should handle normal MDS traffic if installed at each BES. Are your users hitting the web more than average users??
