Please Login to Remove!

i just bought a blackberry curve 8900 and im very proud of it. the phone comes preinstalled with the video of john mayers. when u watch it on the phone its so clear.

i have few bodybuilding videos which i wanted to load on the memory card so that i can watch it on my bb. i used 3gp video converter . the videos got converted and i could view them on my bb.

BUT i was very disappointed with the result . the videos are not at all clear.

which software can i use so that my videos played on my bb appear as clear and as beautiful as the john mayers video.

my original videos when watched on desktop appear very clear .i know that converting the video to 3gp robs some clearity then how the guys at bb were able to install the video of john mayers thats so good to watch and its like watch ing it on an lcd tv

The John Mayer video is mp4. Have not been able to find a program that makes it full screen like that.

I don't know if the one I use will convert your bodybuilding videos.

But, I use Mobiola Video Converter for the Blackberry. It has default settings for the 8900. The only thing I change under preferences is to use 4X3 aspect ratio. This fills a large part of the screen, and the quality is equal to the Mayer video. I have used other converters and played with dozens of settings, but Mobiola is preset for the 8900 and works great. You would have to check the formats it converts, I just convert DVDs. The recording is HIGH res and does consume memory. Up to a GB for a 2 to 2 and a half hour movie.

Hi, when i use mobiola to convert a DVD it comes out with the directors commentary on ! I cannot seem to only select the film ?
Also you mention changing the aspect ratio ( this i cannot do although I,am using the trial version) is it worth increasing the frame size to 480 x 360 to give full screen viewing ?

any help would be appreciated as I,am a blackberry newby

Most converters will do the job. I use Super. A free program and very very powerful. Did I mention it's free?
Ok, do ensure you have the optimum quality, you need to check your source video's properties. Aspect ratio, bitrate, fps, audio bitrate etc...

Since you're on a 8900, your optimum resolution is 480 x 360.
Check your source video, see what ratio aspect it is.
Normally it should be irregular, non round numbers. If that's the case, compute what that translate to in your curve.
You want to always set your width as 480. The height is variable since bb will just add black bars top and bottom. But 480 width is a must for optimum resolution.
Calculate your height by applying the source aspect ratio to the curve's 480 x 360 equivalent.

If your source is some like 1920 x 820, the size for your bb should be 480 x 204. Always set width as 480.

Try to match the source and output video bitrates the same. I find this to be maximum quality. Anything higher is pointless. Same for the audio
