Default I thought blackberrys were good for email!!!

Please Login to Remove!

Hi guys,

I have a really annoying situation, I've just been given a blackberry curve 8900 from my firm, i'm trying to setup email on it, but the only setting I have on there is to enter a BES password, however the firm does not have an enterprise server, nor are they interested in getting one, they are very small (only 2 pcs)

I wonder if there is a way to re-install the email setup application, or is there a way to completely format it?

I only got it yesterday, how annoying!

TIA

All you need to do is go to your carriers BIS page (make sure its your country too)
create a new account, and then you can setup the email.

You need a BlackBerry data plan, which for you will be BIS as Midnightdraven said. Once you have the correct data plan you can log into the BIS page at O2, register your device with it's PIN and IMEI, send your service books from the BIS page to your BlackBerry, and the option to set up email will appear.

All good things flow from having a BlackBerry data plan.

The FAQ site is an excellent resource

All good things flow from having a BlackBerry data plan.
So in other words blackberrys or any other smartphone/pda phone is useless or pointless to have without a data plan.

of course you can have a blackberry/smartphone/pda phone just for phone and appointments and other features that can perform without the data plan but so can smaller phones...unless one gets it for the looks to make an image of oneself.

i agree with that "all good things flow from having a blackberry data plan" it makes alot of sense.
