Default Why is my Curve Dropping Calls When I'm on My WiFi Network at Home?

Please Login to Remove!

I have hi-speed Internet, and my Curve is connected to my wireless network. Why would it be dropping calls?

Interference? Interruption of your modem's connection?

Try searching the wifi forum for your router and some basic info. It could be many things including the phone OS, the router, the router settings, a bad broadband connection, defective phone.

Try this test on your PC to make sure you have a good enough broadband connection then see about fixing the other problems.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry 11000 Colosol)

Is this an 8320 on UMA or just on wifi?

Tried the VoIP test 4 times, got diff results every time, but usually 4 greens and 1 yellow. Generally looked pretty good.
Right now the 8320 says it's on my Wi-Fi network. Right at my desk, sometimes the phone also says UMA and sometimes it says EDGE. Usually UMA. Don't know what either of those mean.

EDGE means it is connected to the cell network. UMA means the phone is connecting to Tmobile over the wifi connection.

Either the call is dropping due to the phone switching from one network to the other or there's some problem with the router connection.

Read through this forum for some general info.

Default work around

I have the same problem and have found a work around.

First I think it's bad switching on t-mobiles side but I'm no tech and that's just what I have figured from trial and error.

The way around so that you do not switch from UMA to EDGE is to go to manage connections turn off mobile network and turn wi-fi on
Now make your call and you will see a solid UMA and because it can't switch back to EDGE it stays connected.

works for me if I want to use UMA

That sounds smart. I'll give it a try.
