Default ATT no blackberry messenger please help ..

Please Login to Remove!

Hi All,

I've been frustrated for the past 2 days searching for postings and solutions to my problem . I really appreciate anyone that can help me, I will give as much info as I can.

My blackberry has an At&t based that I unlocked, I couldn't find the blackberry messenger anywhere. I've installed the desktop manager and tried to load the application, still couldn't find it.

Here're my bold info:
its a v4.6.0.167 (Platform 4.0.0.217)

I've recently update a software from blackberry website, I think it's a 4.6 version or something, my desktop manager version is 4.6.

From some postings I found suggestion to delete the vendor.xml and try to load application again.. still couldn't find the blackberry messenger.

Does my handheld system and desktop manager currently on the same version?

when i tried to download the blackberry messenger, a message saying that "your system does not meet the system requirements, etc" occurs

I really want to use the blackberry messenger, please kindly help me solve this problem..

thank you very much ...

I have to ask, did you check in the Instant Messaging folder? If you can't download the BBM from the BlackBerry site, you might have to go through an OS upgrade and then add it in during the upgrade.

The very first post within this 9000 forum will tell you where to get the necessary OS file and the instructions on how to upgrade. Upgrading your OS will not lock your phone again so you need not worry.

Wirelessly posted (Its All About the U!)

My sense is that the BBM may be in your phone in the first place. Keep us posted.

Is this a new Blackberry? Is it connected to BES where a corporate IT Policy is preventing it from being used?

If you go to Options, Advanced Options, Applications do you see Blackberry Messenger listed? Could the icon be hidden, check all your folders and make sure you don't have a hidden icon and show all is set.

Thanks all,

I found the solution, the bbm was not in my phone at the first place for some reason.

I have to download the OS from blackberry website for Blackberry 9000 At&t user. (around 94 MB) ..

Then I delete the vendor.xml file from my computer (under c:> program file>commonfile>research in motion>apploader)

I plugged my BB to my pc and start the installation, and after it finished, the messenger appears in the application uploader.

I checked the blackberry messenger icon and then add.

Thanks for all the suggestion ..

Yup that's what I suggested. Glad to know you're good now.
