Default Removing P2P Encryption in BES 4.1.4.15

Please Login to Remove!

We have recently had our server upgraded and Blackberry Bolds issued.
After reading somewhere that blackberry messenger isnt compatible with public hand helds unless P2P encryption is removed, we searched the net for a solution.

The solution found was this:
blackberryfaq.com/index.php/How_do_I_alter/remove_the_peer-to-peer_encryption_key%3F

However, in our version of BES, this doesnt make sense as the options dont exist.
Does anyone know of a work around?

Welcome to the forums.

It may help if you let us know what version of BES you're running and for which mail platform.

I am running BES 4.1.6 for GroupWise and here is how I get to it.

From the tree on the left, I click on Servers, then click on the Global tab. Under Tasks I expand Service Control & Customization. I click on Update Peer-to-peer Encryption Key. You should see the option there.

Ours doesn't look like that. :(
We do not have an explorer button, only refresh.

Our Tasks are on the left and have the following options:

Stop BlackBerry Server
restart Blackberry server
Disable Blackberry MDS Connection Service
Clear Statistics
Edit PIM Sync Global Field Mapping
Reset PIM Sync Global Field Mapping
Import IT Policy Definitions

Here is a screen dump:

(cant place links properly due to low post count)

I can re-format hard drives, install operating systems and run websites happily, but for the love of me just can not remove this damn Peer-to-Peer Encyption. :(

The difference may be that you are using BlackBerry Professional. Guess you need to contact TSupport or your service provider to confirm this.

I have a question regarding the removal of the Peer to Peer encryption key as instructed in the solution as originally posted in this thread.

Question: Does this remove only the peer to peer encryption key or does it also remove the encryption key for all other forms of communication as well (email, etc)? My initial thought would be that it only disables peer to peer encryption. I just need verification so I can submit a request to have our IT Policy changed to remove peer to peer encryption. Thanks in advance!

the P2P key won't impact email encryption; only PIN messaging.
