Lightbulb brand new 8900 curve problems with uma

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

So I got my new & shiny 8900...loved it. So I take it home, connect to my wifi, and UMA pops up on my screen. This makes me happy because my phone won't pick up in the house. I use UMA for 2 days, and it works awesomely! I can make calls & send texts...good stuff.

Now UMA is not functioning...I made no settings changes...it just happened. I tried disconnecting to wifi & reconnecting. Tried cycling the power on it a few times (full power off). I can't seem to find actual UMA settings in the phone. Also, I am connected to my wireless @ home, and I can get around to places on the internet.

I am using Tmobile. I tried performing a "wireless update" but none were available.

Any help would surely be appreciated

Did you also recycle power on router and the modem? Sometimes that is necessary. I have also tried going into Manage Connections then click turn all connections off. Once they are all off then click on restore connections. Sometimes this will get UMA going. You can also try going to wifi options and click on wifi tools then click on Ping. You can then ping your router and see if can do this. Hard to tell really what will help you when not there looking at things.
Good Luck,
Doc

If UMA isn't showing chances are the data is still going through wi-fi (if available). My best medice to "restore" UMA is to pull out the battery.

yeah, I fiddled with the connections, turning them off and on.

I removed the battery & left it out for about 10 seconds. Put the battery back in and voila....UMA.

thx :D

My 8900 has been doing the same thing. Do a battery reset and it won't reconnect. The next day it will reconnect...

This is driving me nutso......

Any help would be appreciated.

I've been having issues as well since I bought mine, however, what I've found that seems to work best is Following the below steps:

Go into Manage Connections, WiFi Options, push your BB button while your preferred profile is highlighted, scroll down to WiFi Tools, click the trackball and select Site Survey. Leave this run for awhile which should give you an idea of how many networks you are in range of. If your wireless channel conflicts with another network, go into the settings on your wireless router and change to a different channel. Once that is done, turn off WiFi on you 8900, and turn it back on. You should now have UMA capabilities again.

As an aside, my ISP is AT&T Uverse and I've found that every couple of days the Broadband Gateway flakes out for my UMA connection. I then just reboot my router and everything works great again.

What operating systems are each of you using? Some of the different OS's act differently with UMA.

I'm currently using 4.6.1.168, but had similar problems with the older OS's as well. No problems anymore now that I know what I need to do.
