Default Adding a BB with mass amounts of data on it to a new BES server.

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

I have a user who has been using her BB for 2 years. She never synced her BB with her Exchange account. We just installed the 30 CAL version of BES. When I add this user to BES, how can I make sure her data(Contacts) from the BB is synced with her Exchange account. I worried there are outdated Contact info in her Exchange account and will overwrite data on the BB.

Thanks for any help anyone can give.

It should sync both ways. That is, she may end up with 'duplicate' looking contacts - but it will only duplicate if the First name & Last name fields are identical, and the Company field is different (I believe).

If first name, last name and company are identical, it will favor the desktop, by default.

What I would do:

1. Backup BB
2. Export Outlook Contacts into a .PST
3. Delete Outlook Contacts
4. Sync BB

That will push all her BB contacts into Outlook.

Then you can open the PST and Copy/Paste them into Outlook.

Thanks for the response! I actually backed up the BB and exported the Contacts from Outlook. I then wiped the device and did a EA. Worked like a charm!
