Cool Freedom Keyboard w/ BB 7520

Please Login to Remove!

I have 5 BB 7520's with software version 4.0.0 running and the Freedom Keyboards version 1.70 with no issues with installs. I now have three new BB's running version 4.0.2, along with 3 new keyboards version 1.70. These keyboards will pair with the handhelds, but will not type and the funtion keys won't work either. Is there an update out for the new BB version 4.0.2 avail. to work with the Freedom Keyboard version 1.70?

I have a 7520 with the Freedom Keyboard and a Bluetooth headset. I have experienced conflict when both are paired. Even if I do not use both at the same time, there are instances (no pattern determined yet) when I have to delete a device to get the otehr to work ...

I have the keyboard as well... I seem to see a slow down when I installed the software for my keyboard.... after I uninstalled the software everything was fine... But I also had the same problem with haveing two things paired to my 7520.

As for the Freedom Keyboard not working, it is the only Bluetooth device paired with the 7520 device. It pairs with no problems, but the key strikes don't register.

I am currenly having the same problem. This only started after upgrading our devices' firmware to 4.0.2. Everything worked fine with 4.0.0.2

I have a trouble ticket open with Freedom Keyboard. If I get a response, I will post it.

Default Freedom keyboard does not work with 7290

I have a similar problem with the freedom keyboard. Keyboard paired. Keyboard icon appears on the device. All settings are ok. However, when you try to use the keyboard no key strokes!

Freedom keyboard support is pretty much useless. They would respond once in 24 hours with the same stupid message of repeating the installation or repeating the steps I have gone through. At this time it looks like the money is down the drain!

I have been going back and forth with them now for a couple of weeks. We have upwards of 250 BB's and 9 keyboards. It is proven that the latest BB handheld software version is the issue.
I don't expect much as a resolution, but I have already sent out a message to all my employees to no longer purchase the product. The ones we have, the users like, but the users that spent the money and can't get a working product are pissed.

**Lesson learned** Rule of thumb from here on out, if your wireless carrier doesn't sell the product (ie. Nextel/Sprint, or whomever), don't buy it. No matter how cool the product may be. These companies don't keep a one-to-one with RIM on changes and updates.

I will still post when or if a resolution reached with Freedom Keyboard.

I found this site, www.bluekeyboard.com. The keyboard looks like Freedom Keyboard but the driver is awsome.
