Hi,

I have a 6310 device and according to company policy it locks itself and requires a password to reuse.
I have some applications that even though they work, the machine looks itself in the middle of work.
Is there a way to control this? Can I set some parameter to override it in some cases? Can I control the time before the machine looks?

your question confuses me..

If I understand your problem correctly you are trying to prevent the autolock of your BB which is happening because there is a company policy to do so. I do not think BB even in the newer devices provide a autolock timeout option. You can use 3rd party but again the compatibility issue might be there.. also it is highly possible that 3rd party apps cannot override the company policy.

I believe he meant to type "8310" -- this appears to just be a typo.

An IT policy can force a BlackBerry to lock if it is idle for a specific period of time. Mind you, this idle time is from the perspective of your interaction with the device. It won't take into account that if you're not typing or using the trackball, that an application might still be working on downloading (or doing whatever it is your application is doing).

To my knowledge, there is no setting that will fix this. Just move the ball or press a button every once in a while. You could also check with the BES administrator to see if he is willing to increase the allowed idle time for you.

If your phone isn't on a BES, you can change this yourself under the phone's Options | Security Options | General Settings.

It depends on how strict the policy is. The policy could lock the device if it's idle or not. However, trying to circumvent your IT policy is always a bad idea. Not many here will help you do what you're asking. Your best bet is to talk to your BES Administrator.

Not necessarily. He has 6310 written in 2 places. Cannot be a typo in 2 places.

Hi All,

It was not a typo just a mixup...it is of course 8310.
Thanks for the answers even though I am left with the problem....
It happens when I navigate and you can imagine that touching the trackball while driving every other minute is not the best of solutions and having my screen locked when I need to turn......

It's not the "best" solution but you really have only 2 choices:

1. Get off the BES, remove the IT policy and stay off the BES.
2. Give the BB some user input every so often to keep it from locking.
