I've been debating installing OS 4.5.0.101 on my 8830, but due to opinions seemingly being split down the middle, I'm hesitant to upgrade from .77.

One reason I wanted to try .101 is because I've seen it mentioned several times that .101 allowed a GPS fix when using BBMaps. I had removed BBMaps because I liked Google Maps better. I just wanted to see what would happen if I reinstalled BBMaps on the .77 OS, and I'm happy to report the I do get a 9 satellite fix (indoors) using BBMaps with OS .77 on a Verizon 8830.

I've been reading up a good bit on OS .101 and haven't seen anyone mentioning that this was possible with OS .77, so I hope this isn't a repost.

This still doesn't change the fact that my battery only lasts about a day to a a day and a half with moderate(to me) usage. Also, my memory, even after a battery pull, is rarely above 10 and generally hangs around 6-8....sometimes dropping to 3-5. I will say that this OS .77 is much more stable as I can't think of the last time I had to do a battery pull because of the dreaded hour glass, which I had to do often with the last OS.....whatever that was.

I have OS .101 D/L on my laptop, but it's just sitting there right now.

Could a mod move this to the correct place? I was reading in "Beta You" and posted there instead of where it probably should have gone. My apologies.

Edit: Well...crap. I just found another thread, unrelated to this phone or OS, that someone made mention of GPS being enabled on a Verizon BB 8830 running OS .77.

Feel free to nuke this thread........
