Could be low memory.

Options > Status, what is the FILE FREE?

Around 12 MB of memory is required for BB optimal performance. If it less than that you may want to delete some of the apps to free some space and then check the behavioral pattern. If even after freeing space, your BB freezes try reformatting your media card (if you have one)

I have a 2 GB memory card installed. But I don't know how to move anything to card except a few picts. I only have addresses and calander apts, which aren't many at all and about 300 contacts.

I am having same problem... And my bytes are randomly going from 0 to 534254..... When it unfreezes and I view my file free is when I see zero. I do a battery pull and it goes back to normal....

You have .2MB free which way way below than the optimal requirement. Do you have lots of 3rd party apps installed on your curve? Connect your berry to the computer with mass storage enabled (Options>Media Card>Auto enable mass storage mode when connected: Yes). It should show you 2 parent folders, one would be media card and another would be your Blackberry. Search your BB for any files on the device and copy/paste them to your media card (just as you would do with normal windows files).

That being said.. follow this link and do step by step as advised on that link. This will help you gain more memory.
