In the past couple years (and hopefully in the near future) I have been fortunate enough to take many trips to explore the world. France and Sydney as well as different parts of the USA, just to name my favorites.
Every trip I went on, my BlackBerry came with me. My old 8300 and now I'm sure my new 8900 will too. After experiencing the convenience of unlocked phones, it was only natural to unlock my 8900 for future use.
But now I find myself craving the other half of the Blackberry... The Data. Oh, how convenient it would be to be able to use the full functionality of my Blackberry on a foreign SIM card.
So there are Pay As You Go voice plans, but I think we should be entering the age of Pay As You Go Data. After all, data devices are more and more common, and unlimited (or virtually unlimited, i.e 6 GB) plans are getting to be really affordable.
If pay as you go voice can cost as little as $25 for a legnthy talk time, why can't I pay $25 for a nice chunk of data?
Am I dreaming or do you think it will one day be a reality? Thoughts?
i believe this is in the works with RIM... at least thats what i have heard... they are working on it... but again its up to the carriers to deploy and support the option

Just to update this, T-Mobile does do flexpay month to month now, this is what the Rep in the mall told me, but you have to have a calling plan along with it, if even the cheapest one, then add either $25 or I think $35 a month for bb data (and its unlimited), and I think there is a extra fee for being on flexpay, plus the tax the crap out of you...but yea you can just get the cheapest tmob calling plan (I think $20 a month) and add bb data to it...I might try this.
If or when I do, I'll come back and update this thread if you would like.
