I recommend Datavault or Crypt. I use both.

I use Data Vault by Ascendo. I really like the desktop app for adding entries and syncing the BB.

I know Ascendo has a free trial so maybe you could try before you buy and decide which one you like. The pricing seems to be the same between Ascendo and Splash.

My big concern with splash would be no listing for the Bold.

These 2 apps look so much a like I think it would be "User Preference"....

looks great, ok..I think I am going to go for the datavault! I need ease of use because i am not a techy by any means, I have limited understanding. I also want to purchase a 16 microSDHC. Should I wait to get the upgrade card before I start installing these new apps? I have a 4 gb card right now that was left over from my curve that a placed in berry, and noticed that i have songs on it that carried over. When you install these apps do they go to the card or the hard drive on bold?

I HIGHLY recommend Ascendo DataVault over the Splash products. It is fantastic and was updated recently for the Bold.

I use Splash ID which I just got for my new Bold ($9.95 upgrade) from my old program with Palm Treo. I love it. . .except that today when I upgraded to OS .190 I lost all my info. . .got to figure that one out!!

I read earlier on berryreview.com via Viigo that splash released 4.2 which fixes some bugs and has full compatibility with the bold.... Not that I am switching, but figured you who use it or are thinking about it might want the update.

Mike,

Did you have it sync'd with the desktop app??? Should be simple to re-sync.

I upgraded to SplashID 4.2 and followed the directions to export the data, delete on the BB device, add to the BB device, then import the saved file. I think I made a mistake in the export, import part because all my data is corrupt with only a few entries correct. I got frustrated and left the office!! I'll get back to it on Monday.

I'm using 4.2 on the Bold and so far it's working pretty well. Only downside is a 6 second delay when you exit from editing a record. I'm a long time user of SplashID since the ealry Palm Pilot days. The beauty of SplashID being that you can transfer your data to any platform without doing any retyping. I've used it on PalmOS, Symbian S60, UIQ, WM Std, WM Pro, iPhone, and now Blackberry, and the transfer has been seamless every time, done in less than a minute. V4 desktop will even keep several databases in sync if you use more than one device (e.g home and work phone).

The problem with switching to device specific programs like Datavault is; think back 1, 2, or even 5 years -did you know then what device you'd be running now? I certainly didn't, and I sure as hell don't want to start retying 500+ records into another program. With SplashID it's as simple as importing a VID file - job done, and no risk of leaving unencrypted CSV files lurking on your PC.

As for losing data, that's what backups are for, and you'd be mad to try import/export between devices without doing one first, no matter what product you're using. My data is always changing (curse of dozens of 30-day-expired sys admin logons) so I backup every day on the PC in a few clicks which literally takes seconds.

Can one of you guys who use DataVault please help me.

I downloaded and installed the latest trial version of Datavault on my blackberry bold today. Here is the problem (I have reinstalled 2x, in an attempt to fix).

When I setup a login template with the URL, userid and password, and then choose "open url in browser", it opens the url in my Blackberry browser.

"Fill the url in browser", it goes to a screen and says "downloading....Please wait...". It stays that way for ever (over an hour) until I quit the program.

Thanks for the help. I emailed the company and their only response was "check your APN settings"; I did.

Every other program installed communicates exactly as it should. Any ideas?

I have used and posted my reviews of several password managers for Blackberry on my website, askMobilePro.com.

My favorite is DataVault, although Illium's eWallet was not yet available for Blackberry when I did that review. FWIW, I have used Illium's products on other platforms, and have always found them to be excellent.

Are there any other password programs that integrate with browser so that i don't have to cut and paste (other than DataVault; which will not work for me)?

I too use DataVault. Awesome program, great tech support, and they pay alot of attention to details that make it a pleasure to use, and beautiful to look at as well.
