Default password when phone is turned on but not on keyboard..

Please Login to Remove!

i want a password for when i turn my phone on but not to unlock the keyboard. from what i'm doing, it seems like if the password is enabled, the keyboard is locked, which i find a pain to be typing in the password everytime i go to use it. i just want a password for when the phone is turned on. is this possible>?

I don't really understand your question. However, the lock feature locks the keyboard and the entire device. It's a security feature.

All you can do is set the timeout to the max (1 hour.)

This is how the password/lock feature works. If it falls into the wrong hands while it's turned on and doesn't ever lock, how would that be secure?

I think what the OP is looking for is what some Motorola and I think Nokia's have or had which is a password only right when the phone is turned on. After that, there's no password required to use. Basically it doesn't lock again until you power down.

Try Options->Advanced Options->SIM Card, access the menu and choose Enable Security. I don't think it will help if a different SIM is inserted though.

If you want to secure the BB itself you have to enable the device password which you're already familiar with.
