Question What does the application center do?

Please Login to Remove!

As the toitle states, what does this application actually do? There arent any apps in there, nothing to select to download, and you cant use it as a folder to store apps in, so what on earth is it for?

TIA

I show only about 8 applications in my App Center (I'm sure more are to come).

Including Google Talk, AIM, MSN Messenger, Flickr, Facebook, Yahoo! Messenger, Visual Voice Mail, VZ Navigator.

It would be nice to have the ability to hide installed applications (or hide those you don't want to see).

Yea, I just removed the entire application with the java loader, I dont see a point in having the icon there if its not doing anything but taking up memory and lsowing down the phone. The only App i really want in JiveTalk........but who knows when they will be releasing a version compatible with 4.7

Default application center is still new

I wouldn't remove it just yet. With any luck, as new apps become compatible they will be added to the application center. It is intended to be the equivalent to the iphone's app store - its just that there aren't many compatible apps out there yet.

The big problem is, the app center is run entirely by Verizon and they get to decide what apps will be allowed into the app store. I wouldn't anticipate seeing Google maps in there (since verizon wants $9.99/month for vz navigator), but lets hope they put together a nice directory of compatibile apps in the future.

It may end up being complete garbage, but lets give horizon a chance to make something of it and maybe we'll start calling them verizon again.

You do have the ability to hide those things that you do not want to see.
