I have the Pearl 8130 and I'm on Alltel.

Starting this past Monday, at least 4 people have reported receiving duplicate text messages from me. Not just duplicate -- numerous, sometimes 4 or 5 times up to 4 hours later!

Needless to say, they're not too happy.

I have called Alltel and they took my phone out of the texting plan, then added me back in.

It's still happening. And it's happening to friends that have both Alltel and Verizon, so there's no rhyme or reason to it.

Alltel said that it's most likely a Blackberry issue. And that's what I think too. I've done battery pulls, I've shut down my network connections, all numerous times.

Any advice? Does Blackberry have a customer service? Is there anything they can do for me on their network -- as far as taking me out and putting me back in?

RIM does have a support service but to the best of my knowledge you have to pay!

Have you thought about upgrading your OS to the latest version? 4.5 is available from the BlackBerry software download site - though if this problem only just started happening it doesn't seem likely it's a device software issue unless you messed with the settings. Perhaps you've too many messages or something.

Otherwise seems more likely to be an Alltell issue.

I have the latest OS on my Pearl (4.5.0.89). And actually, this problem didn't start until I upgraded.

I'm using an 8830 (Alltel), just upgraded to 4.5.0.77 last week and have been experiencing the same problem since then. Some of my text messages come through 2,3 or 4 times. I have to assume it's the OS.
