Can't change default to device default

wife has 8310 w/ OS 4.5, and thus two calendars. In the calendar I can switch between the calendar associated with her email and the "device default" calendar.
However, when I go to options/advanced/default services, only the calendar associated with the email address appears; if I click on it to try to bring up the device default option, nothing happens.
As a result, I can't set device calendar as the default one, which is necessary for me to sync w/ the Pocket Informant calendar.
Any suggestions?
