Default BlackBerry --> Daylight Savings Time

So with the clock being set back tomorrow, I'm wondering, will I have to change the date manually, or will it change automatically? and if it changes automatically, do i have to worry about the time my alarm clock is supposed to go off?

Your device should change the time automatically.

No change necessary.

Devices with OS 4.2.1 and higher have the DST Patch built in and will change automatically.

EDIT: Impact to BlackBerry Devices

But is it true there is no Time Zone updater? So DST will change automatically, but when you change time zones, the time doesn't update automatically?

There is no 'Time Zone updater' and never has been. If you change time zones, you must change the time zone manually.

Since your device will change automatically, the alarm clock should be fine.

Interesting! Please let us know tomorrow. I'm thinking it will change since there are other states in your timezone that do use DST.

I think there are parts of Indiana that are the same way.

Where I grew in south Alabama we actually had our own personal time zone which was about 30 years behind.

Indiana started back on DST this year - first time in quite a while.

Actually Hawaii is the only state that does not use DST anywhere within its borders. Arizona only observes DST on the Navajo Indian reservation. The rest of the state does not observe DST.

And Indiana used to observe DST in 7 counties in the northwest corner (Chicago area), three counties in the southeast corner of the state (near Cincinnati) and five counties in the southwest corner of the state. DST used to be observed in a total of 15 of the 92 counties. Starting in March, 2008, the entire state observes DST.

You should have an "Arizona (-7)" Time Zone in your Date/Time options. Notice there is also a "Mountain (-7)" Time Zone. So, yes, your BB knows what it's doing.

Wirelessly posted (Curve)

My husband is using a Samsung on Tmo and the time changed on his device @ 11:00 EDT so I checked my Tmo bb. The network time showed 10:00 but there was no change in the time displayed on my bb homescreen. I made a manual adjustment so that the device was the same as the network time. I don't expect to have to change it again.
