Hi

I recently got my BBB (vodafone uk) and wanted to use it to shh/ telnet into my servers at work. I have great success when I use the wifi connection but ass soon as I try and use the TCP connection I have no luck. When I use the TCP connection it just wait, and waits for about 60secs then closes the connection. The firewalls are not blocking the connections as I have checked.

I have spoken to the tech support at vodafone and they state the blackberry is unable to do this when using the tcp connection as it not designed to. I find this a little strange as why would others write software for the blackberry to use ssh/ telnet.

The SSH client I have tried are midpssh, moibile admin and idokorro mobile ssh and they all come back with the same issue.

My question is, has anybody been successful with ssh/ telnet using their BBB on the vodafone uk network.

I have tried with and with out the correct apn settings and recieve the same results

are you trying to connect to public ips on your servers, or private ips??

I have been using the external (public) IP addresses. The problem I am experiencing seems to be with the BBB when it uses TCP. If I change the settings to use my wifi I can connect to any server via ssh or telnet. The wifi I have been using is at home so I am using the internet to get to various servers.

This is interesting. I'm thinking on upgrading to a BOLD here in the US when its released, and I rely heavily on the SSH.

To slightly side-track the thread, over WiFi, how does the SSH run? Noticeably better than over GSM?

I have yet to try over GSM (GPRS/ G3) as I can't get it to work. Using wifi though works really well and I have no problems thus far other than problem I have already stated.
