Default Battery drained during night for no reason

Please Login to Remove!

I usually charge my battery every night before I go to bed. Most days, with my normal use, it's over half charged at this time, so the battery seems strong. I always change the profile to vibrate and only have the phone to vibrate when I get a call (I'm a very light sleeper, so I don't want to wake with every e-mail coming in, but I don't want to miss an important call either). Anyway, I wake up this morning and change the profile to phone only and go back to sleep. A friend had called and the phone didn't vibrate or ring and there was no missed call notification but he left a voicemail. I noticed my battery was about drained! I didn't get any e-mail or calls during the night either. Any ideas?

ETA: It was fully charged when I went to bed at 1:00 a.m. last night and was almost drained at 8:30 this morning.

Did you have any applications running in the background? It is strange that it drained that quick. I would suggest to try a battery pull and monitor it for a few days to see if it clears up for you.

I checked background apps as soon as I noticed it this morning and no, nothing was running. I did pull the battery before I went to bed, just because it had been a couple days...lol.

I just got my 8110 yesterday and did the same thing for me.
I did a soft shutdown.
Odd.

That has happened to me a few times, once was because there was no actual phone signal and it kept trying to reach a tower, another was Google maps was left running, another was that I left JiveTalk running in the background and one other time it was even plugged into my computer all night with no apps running and it didnt charge as well as totally emptied the battery.

leaving google maps on doesn't matter because if the program is minimized it loses the GPS signal purposely not to drain your battery (it also doesn't send/receive).

But that is not the case with Win Live Search, that eats up the battery a lot and its not efficient to stop GPS tracking when the program is minimized.

Leaving MSN on is the most efficient (it doesn't affect your battery at all basically), while JiveTalk does decrease your battery substantially compared to Win Live Messenger (official version).

It happens to me sometimes during a soft shutdown.

Default it has happened to me a few times

Hey, I have the 8120 and a few random times i have had my battery go down to pretty much zero in a matter of a couple of hours, I also noticed that my phone was hot to the touch. this happened while attending college courses where it was just in my pocket. not sure of all the reasons and so forth. I just pulled the battery and put it back in then recharged it. weird stuff. the days that this has happened to my knowledge I had not done anything out of the ordinary.

I guess these darn phones have a mind of their own sometimes...I have noticed my signal has been low the last few nights. Maybe it has to do with the weather....
