Post Hard Delete Problem

Please Login to Remove!

Hi All,

I am having a weird problem and since I can re-produce this on two different BES servers installed in different locations I wonder if this is not a bug.

We use a system here called Worksite Mobile/File Site (law firm) this allows users to file mail to their workspaces (Pretty much a folder in your inbox devided into Client Matter areas) I suppose you could see it almost as a Personal folder in the inbox. Now, when filing messages from your inbox to these folders I would expect the BES to handle this as a Hard Delete. Which is true if you are doing it do items less than say two days old. But as soon as you move an item into Filesite which is say a week old the BB will never remove the message from the BB inbox. This is true for any Hard Delete action so shift+delete and moving to PST.

I guess my question is:
A. Do any of you folks suffer from this issue
B. Is there perhaps a date after which Hard Delete will not process items?

Server 1. Is BES 4.1.3
Server 2. Is BES 4.1.6.9

So I'm not sure now if there is some other infrastructure issue I need to be aware of.... Logged call with O2 (our carrier) who escalated to RIM who turned around and said update to latest service pack (this was prior to us having SP5, so I went to 5, the problem was not resolved, the O2 engineer... wait for this... said to upgrade to 6 as it will be resolved then and guess what... yep exactly)

Any advice here would be greatly appreciated as usual. Thanks in advance.

I dont think this is a bug I think this is a design limitation with the way the BES does hard deletes:

BlackBerry Search Results
PRB: fnevObjectDeleted returns short term entry ID from Exchange

I think, I remember, that the Hard-Delete Feature only works with 6 or less Mails at one time.
I Dont know, If t here is an additional time limit.

We also use Filesite (also a law firm) and you'll be pleased to know there is a simple solution to this. In Messages > Options > General Options set "Hide Filed Messages" to Yes and all emails that users move into Filesite will then be hidden from view on their device.
