Default BES (EE, Enterprise Edition) and BES (BPS) Licensing

Please Login to Remove!

I'm a little confused, as usual The licensing thread at the top of this forums says I'll need SBE CALs for my BPS installation, but the BPS web page by RIM states:

"Additional CALs

BlackBerry® Professional Software Express comes with one Client Access License (CAL). You will need to order one BlackBerry® Enterprise Server CAL for each user you would like to add (up to a limit of 30 total users) from your wireless service provider, a BlackBerry® reseller or online from the BlackBerry Store."

Now, if I remove a pack of 10 licences from my EE BES, what is the worst that would happen if I try to add them to my BPS? Would it somehow expire them, or just give me an error?

Also, I've noticed that my copy of "BlackBerry Enterprise Server Express 4.1 for Microsoft Exchange" is almost exactly the same as my EE BES. From what I've read, it should look different, but isn't. How can I tell definitively that I am using BPS/Express?

Phew! Home time now, will look forward to some answers tomorrow

Cheers

Richard

It will probably just tell you that they're not the right type of CAL for the type of server you have. As long as they're not active on two different servers with different SRP's I can't see it expiring them.

That's what it did when I tried...

Why do you want to run BPS/Express when you have EE?
