Default 8700c losing email and Internet connectivity every day

Please Login to Remove!

Hello...this is my first post to this forum...

For the last 2-3 weeks, I have been having to reset my device (take out the battery) at least once per day because it stops sending and receiving email and will not connect to the Internet. Once I do the hard reset, everything is fine for a little while. I have resent the service books several times. Any suggestions?

The phone still works even if when I am having these problems. The signal indicator says "EDGE" even when having these problems.

Thanks.

I'm running 4.2. something too.... Any down side to running 4.5.x? And do I need to download it from the AT&T site? I remember having issues with my old 7290 and software off the Blackberry website....

The update went fine. However, I do not have the <Internet> Browser...just the Cingular Browser and it will not go to any web site.

try logging into your AT&T BIS site found here "https://bis.na.blackberry.com/html?brand=mycingular" and resend service books.

some people have reported some problems, but most have experienced little to no problems. Always do a back up first and remember you can always go back.

Well I went out to the at&t software download site.... https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...E4F82F9F00E7D4 and the highest version they show for the BB Desktop Software is v4.3.

Now is the version number for the desktop software the same as that on the BB? If so then AT&T doesn't support ver 4.5?

I remember upgrading my 7290 from Blackberry and not AT&T once and I had all kinds of problems including loosing one of the browsers like Solarplexxus did... So I'm leary....

Karren - the desktop manager version number (4.2) has no relationship to the handheld OS (4.5). You can mix and match.

Remember that the 8700 is extremely limited (no microSD memory card) and can not take advantage of many of the 4.5 benefits (media player).

Thanks njb.... Guess that's why the 8700 only cost $49? and after reading the thread on 4.5, I can't really see much benifit in upgrading... plus I'm happily getting my tunes from my Sirius Satelite Radio... lol

Resent the service books...Cingular browser works fine...thanks. But...still no other browser.

Opinions on 4.5...

1) BB seems to be more reliable
2) Connects to the network faster on startup
3) Minor UI/cosmetic changes

There are still some features you may be interested in such as Documents 2 Go and HTML email. As NJ mentioned, you really won't gain much from the multimedia portion of the upgrade.

Are you having any connection issues anymore? I still am.... especially between certain cell towers. Same as with my 7920... before it died... I had to pull the battery tonight to get it to work at home....

Karen,

My connection issues seem to be okay now. Did you resend service books with the unit off?

Spell Check and Html mail...
Plus the new formatting in compose and address book.

But, NJ is correct about the media piece....

I updated and support a lot of users at work on the 8700c (49.00!!)
The update does work well and esp. the spell check is a welcomed addition.
I would think your issue may be 3rd party app.....
Ask At&t for a 4022 card if your running a 3022 or 2022... This can resolve issues on the 8700c.
