So, today I decided to try and get some more info out of my media contact at Verizon Wireless. I simply asked if she could give me a rough estimate on a release date, general pricing info, and any solid specs for the device. As always, it was a professional email with all the courtesies you would expect in the business world, and this was the email response I got back:

No "Hello Nick," no "At this time we do not have any information to release," no "thank you for your interest," not even her signature!!!

Now, I find this to be incredibly rude, especially in a professional business setting. Until this point I have always had good communication with the media and marketing department at Verizon, along with the PR company they use, but wow. I would have never expected such a cold brush off from someone I thought I had a good working business relationship with.

That is very curt and downright rude. Maybe she is sick of people asking that question, but that's no excuse.

Maybe after the 8830 fiasco Verizon has learned to say nothing about future BlackBerry products.

That is my opinion and you are entitled to yours.

I did at least get a decent reply from the outside PR company they use. It was professional and said they do not have any information to publicly release at this time.

My guess is that everyone is in trouble for so many leaks on everything from devices, to OS's, to BES, Desktop Manager....you name it.

Even with that being the case, I still expect to be treated with the professional courtesy that I gave. Just because Verizon may be cracking down on leaks doesn't mean you should be out right rude. A professional response of "there is no public information I can give at this time" would have been much more well receipted that what I got.

Why not write back to her and state that?

PS - I personally don't think that response is rude at all. Just short and to the point.

I also don't see it as rude.

Although I guess it doesn't have a bunch of junk about how happy she is to have you as a customer and how she hopes she can help you in the future if you have any other questions, it did answer your question.
