Default Is there a Zip Code locater?

Please Login to Remove!

I was wondering if there is software that uses the GPS on your phone to tell you your in XXXXX zip code? That way I can plug that number in Berry411 to locate things for where I am at. Better yet if Berry411 had this function wouldn't it powerful? Any ideas?

Beyond411 DOES have that functionality... in the location field, your choices are: HOME, WORK, OTHER and GPS.

Get the lastest version at http://thebogles.com/b411.jad from your 'berry browser.

True. Even without know your currently located zipcode, the gps position works to locate places near you.

I think you misunderstood me. Does Beyond411 locate your zip code for you when say your in an area that you don't know the zip code? I know you can plug in the zip code again what if you don't know what zip code your in?
I know 411 uses the zip code to locate things for you.

What I am saying is that you don't need to know the ZIP code to use Beyond411. Simply use the GPS location and it will find locations near you. In your first post on the subject, you asked about finding the ZIP code from your current location so you could enter it in Beyond411 - I am saying that is NOT necessary... just let the GPS and Beyond411 do all the work for you.

If I misunderstood, please clarify.

How do you get 411 to do a search based on GPS? Like right now I see Yellow Pages (home)?

You set the location (upper right corner) to GPS. The options are HOME, WORK, OTHER and GPS. Change that, and then use it as normal (enter your search and select yellow pages or any other category).

That is powerful... I never noticed you can change that parameter. Thank you so much.

Yes, it is powerful.

I used it to locate "idiot" in my local area, and dots popped up ALL over the map.

You can also use Microsoft Live application for the BB to do the same thing. Look for movies, restaurants, etc. based on your current GPS location. It's one of the few useful M$ applications thats actually useful.

I replaced B411 with the Windows Live Search several months ago - and have never looked back. The voice search is also nice...

Will either of these work with the 8320 (no GPS) the way Google Maps will based on the cell tower you're connected to?

I had thought it was getting the information on cell tower from the tower itself providing lat/long, but it seems like it may actually be Google looking up from a database of towers/locations.
