Default Class 4 memory vs Class 6

Please Login to Remove!

does this make a big difference in how fast our blackberrys read the info off the card or do they read slower than most memory cards can transfer data?

Thanks,

Chris

P.s. thanks jsanders for answering my question in the other memory thread.

Yes, if you can notice the difference...

From wiki: Secure Digital card - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Quote:
SDHC cards have SD Speed Class Ratings defined by the SD Association. The SD Speed Class Ratings specify the following minimum write speeds based on "the best fragmented state where no memory unit is occupied":[18]

* Class 2: 2 MB/s
* Class 4: 4 MB/s
* Class 6: 6 MB/s

SDHC cards will often also advertise a maximum speed (such as 133x or 150x) in addition to this minimum Speed Class Rating. See section Speeds above for a further explanation. One critical difference between the Speed Class the maximum speed ratings is the ability of the host device to query the SD card for the speed class and determine the best location to store data that meets the performance required. "Maximum speed" ratings are quoted by the manufacturers but unverified by any independent evaluation process.

So, does anyone know what is the maximum transfer rate of the BB?

If someone came up with a MicroSD card that had a transfer rate of 100 MB/s, would the BB be able to do it?

Class 6 is DV speed... If you're gonna use your Curve as a vid cam, then yes, class 6 makes a difference.

Max transfer rate? Probably 60MB/s (USB 2.0 speeds)...
Now we just need an sdhc that'll go that fast...

Cheers!

Amazon.com: Kingston 8GB SDHC Class 6 Flash Card SD6/8GB: Electronics

Amazon. Kingston 8GB class 6 SDHC card for $31.95.

I like Kingston and feel they are as reliable as SanDisk and frequently, slightly less expensive.

Duh. You're right. I thought I had a great find. Glad I didn't order it. Thanks for correcting me. (Faulty search criteria.)
