Default Quad Band - Which is active?

Please Login to Remove!

I am trying to find a status panel that will tell me which frequency band is currently in use by my pearl. Anyone know how to determine this?

Thanks!

I haven't seen one, but I use Wirelessadvisor.com to determine the frequencies each carrier is using in a particular zip code. If you are running TMob and in your zip code they only use 1900Mhz (as an example), then you will know.

This site also has some info that may be helpful: GSM Roaming - United States

Thanks. Actually, wirelessadvisor.com has confused me even more. It says t-mobile only offers GSM / GPRS. My pearl says that I am using EDGE. ATT shows up as having GSM / GPRS and EDGE. Could T-Mobile be "borrowing" ATT's network in my area?

The reason why this is an issue is that I purchased a cell phone booster for my home for 1900MHZ. wirelessadvisor shows that ATT uses both 1900MHZ and 800MHZ in my area. I wondering if I need to trade my 1900MHZ booster for the more expensive dual 1900MHZ/800MHZ model.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Rung

The only way to find out may be to call your carrier.

I have a similar booster in my office due to low cell signal and I bought the dual band just to make sure myself and others can get the benefit of the booster.

If you already have the booster, turn it off and watch your db signal level on the Pearl (options-Status). Then keep watching it as you turn on the booster. If the db level goes down (lower is stronger), then the booster is working fine for you.
