Exclamation SOS-Sim Card Error

Please Login to Remove!

9 months I have had the blackberry curve and loved every bit of it. Unfortunately, I have encountered a recent issue where often when pulling my phone out of its case the phone will display a "sim card error" and I have to reset it to have the phone work again. What is the problem and what can I do to fix it?

1- Could be the SIM card, remove it and reset it.
You may need to replace it.

What OS are you running on the 8300?

I got a new SIM a few months ago. At the same time, I took a small piece of paper and folded it over a few times and put it between the SIM card and the clip that holds it in place. I had seen someone suggest this months ago and it does make since that the SIM will be held against the contacts more securely.

I don't believe that will fix it. It doesn't make any sense if all i do is turn phone off then on again and it works. Sometimes for weeks other times for hours. I have tried taking it out and reinserting, Sticking a piece of paper between it, Replacing the sim, getting a new phone. Non of the solutions work. There has to be a bigger problem then they(Blackberry,AT&T) want us to know. Why is it that most of the SOS problems are blackberries? We all have had other phones. Did you have this problem with the others?

I've encountered this problem, too. Disappointing for a phone I paid $300 for and the Nokia 2160 I paid less than 10% of that works flawlessly.

New Sim? I assume I would have to pay for it right? Its not right to pay $45 a month for service and $300 for a phone then a new sim. In answer to the question a few replies up, I am currently running 4.2.2.89.

I too suffered from constant SIM card errors. I had to constantly pull the battery. I never got around to getting a new SIM card. Two weeks ago I was traveling and the battery pull would not fix the problem. I tried for over 30 minutes and the error kept appearing. So, out of desperation, I did the same thing as absoluteevel, folded a piece of paper and placed it on top of the battery and closed the battery gate and I have not had one single SIM card error. In fact, I have not had to pull the battery for two weeks now for any reason.

I upgrade to a Curve on 5/9, they gave me a new Simcard as the prior one was from Cingular. I am getting the SimCard error seems like every day maybe more often. The bad thing is you don't realize it until you go to use it so I are missing calls. My "new" simcard is the ATT variety. The guy at the store installed it. I haven't touched it, but seems unlikely that it is a physical connection issue when just it recovers with a power down. I don't have to take the battery out to "fix" the issue. Seems like a system or non device issue.
*** I have the latest OS, what has fixed this error for me was setting the password as required by my IT group for BES access. A policy I think. I actually believe it was the password that was causing the problem because once I set the password, no more SimCard errors. It's been 3 days.
