Default Slow USB Transfer

Please Login to Remove!

Is there any way to fix this? It takes forever to transfer music to my 8300. I have tried both the Roxio Media Manager AND just dragging and dropping via windows explorer but I get pathetically slow transfer speeds.

Any suggestions?

While microsd may have a slow transfer speed, the data transfer speed through the blackberry is pathetically slow. I've found that using a SD adapter or a MicroSD card reader will cut transfers time to a quarter of what they are when using the BB as a Mass Storage Device.

Frankly I've found that using the BB as a Mass Storage Device is flaky at best, I almost always pull my SD card out and use a card reader now.

The one reason that I liked the 8800 over the 8300 series is that on the 8800 you could remove the SD card without removing the battery, which you can't do on the 8300.

I wanted to test a new 4gb card I bought and I transferred 2 albums over using USB... it took six minutes maybe... Then I popped the card in an adapter, slapped it in my laptop and transferred about 40 albums in under 7 minutes. Not blazing fast by any means, but USB can get stuffed... I'm using the adapter.

I concur that it's a bit of a drag to pull the battery each time I need to access the card. I try to see the bright side, though... I pull the battery from time to time anyway. I just try to sync my data transfers with my battery pulls

To add to this discussion I also wanted to ask if the slow transfer rate affects things like the built-in camera. I have the camera set to use/save to the media card.

When I start the camera, it literally takes 30 seconds or so to unfreeze and start working. When the picture is saving, it takes another long time.

I recently reformatted the micro sd card to use 512bytes for allocation unit in Windows. Is this ok to do?

the blackberries use USB 1.1. Get a card reader and make it USB 2.0.
