Default Opera mini Q ?

Please Login to Remove!

I have dowloaded and installed OM v4 on my pearl and need your help.

If i use the trackball I can scroll the list on favorites, but to click on them and open that site I only found two ackwards methods. Either I press the "Del" key or the BB menu key and choose the "Select" option...

Why can't we use the trackball to select ?

Is there a list of buttons and command for OM and BB phones.

Please help me out...

This is the way it works on BB.
Opera Mini is a generic MIDP app (works on many many phones) and as such limits itself to a standard mobile phone keypad.
We can only hope BB support will improve in upcoming releases.

Are you sure you downloaded the correct version of Opera Mini? The trackball works fine on my 8130.

Did you OTA or via Desktop? I don't recall having to tell it which I wanted when I OTA installed, it just did it and it worked. Try doing a OTA install.

Not sure but it should be a easy data point to get out of the way. Would take about 3 minutes to uninstall Opera Mini 4.0, reboot, then OTA install form mini.opera.com. But, clicking the trackball definitly works with mine.

OK, I got it.
I first believed Opera Mini just misbehaved on the BBs and everyone had to live with this trackball bug... until I read your comments.

It comes out that OM won't interact with the BlackBerry properly if the BB language is set to Français (French) -- or any other non-English language I guess.
I don't mean the *input* language (this would at least make a little sense), but the *interface* language, which is only supposed to control how text strings are localized.

Anyway, switching my BB language to English fixed this.
Now I can use the trackball click and the Enter key, both of which were completely disabled in French.

I can't tell whether it's RIM or Opera who's at fault here.
Sure, Opera is the first app I've seen run into the problem, but the BB itself has its lot of input problems already (the symbols page is all f*cked up on French devices since 4.2.1.91 for example).
Hey, maybe I should try this "buggy" SSH app again...

I find Opera Mini to be slower than the BB browser on my phone. I'm waiting for the beta edition of skyfire. The claim is that skyfire will provide fast speed with apple-like capability for browsing. It's only available for Windows Mobile currently, but you can sign up to be contacted for the beta version once it is compatible with BB. Skyfire: Product, Faq
