It's a long story, but I'll try to keep it brief. I use a third-party product called "OSAsync" which I've been using to keep my home desktop's calendar, contacts and tasks in sync with my work laptop. This has been working great and I've used my home desktop to sync with my Blackberry 8830. Worked like a charm.... that is until our company switched to BES.
I love BES, but it really goofed up OSAsync and I've been in contact with them about what was going on. Basically it seemed that between my BB and BES it was generating "updates" to the contacts and calendar entries and was firing off change records to the other machine -- so many that the laptop was basically bogging down -- even though I was only sitting looking at contacts, but not even opening them!
Anyway, in discussions with OSAsync folks the put me onto another idea which is actually a work-around, but which I think has a great deal of potential for me to utilize, so I'm working with that angle now. However, I still have a problem, and this time it's solely in the handshaking between BES and my Outlook / Exchange client.
What I've done is this.... In my Outlook client on my laptop I've added an additional PST file which my plan is to use for personal contacts, calendars entries and tasks (so I basically have my OST for work stuff and the PST for personal). My intention is to have OSAsync monitor ONLY the PST file and sync that with my desktop at home, and subsequently my wife's laptop. This works great and doesn't interefere with Outlook, BES, or the BB at all.
Then I thought that in order to get my personal contacts on my BB, I'd make a subfolder of Contacts in my Outlook OST that's called "Copy of Home Contacts". From an Outlook standpoint it works great as I can simply copy contacts from one to the other and BES replicates
both the main Contacts folder and this subfolder perfectly over to my BlackBerry. I've done the same thing with Tasks, and again this works perfectly. What doesn't work however is the
same thing under Calendar!!!
Diagramatically, this is subset of what shows up in Outlook...
Mailbox
. - Calendar
. ---- Copy of Home Calendar
. - Contacts
. ---- Copy of Home Contacts
. - Deleted Items
. - Drafts
. - Inbox
. - Sent
. - Tasks
. ---- Copy of Home Tasks
Personal Folders
. - Calendar
. - Contacts
. - Deleted Items
. - Tasks
. - Search Folder
Public Folders
. - etc
Basically under "Mailbox", BES sync's the folders "Contacts" and "Copy of Home Contacts", "Tasks" and "Copy of Home Tasks", and "Calendar" but NOT "Copy of Home Calendar"
After that long explanation, my question is
"Why isn't "Copy of Home Calendar" being sync'd and what can I do to get it to sync?"
Any suggestions?
