Just making sure, since I actually care about this phone.
Can I just use any generic USB charger that'll fit into the port of the Blackberry (e.g., say one laying around for my old RAZR)? I would imagine it's okay, since it can charge from via computer USB or wall socket, but just wanted to be absolutely sure....
Moto chargers work for BB, but not the other way around. Also, BB charger doesn't work for Creative Labs Zen V MP3 player. Not sure which charger is non-standard.
Motorola decided to put a chip in thier chargers so the phone can verify that it is an OEM charger and make a few more dollars. They work fine for the BB.
Heres one for you. I had a UTStarcom 6700 PPC. I have changed to the 8130 BB. I plugged in my BB to the Starcom AC charger. I shows charging then stops charging. I looked at the ratings for it and the ratings for my BB AC charger. The only difference was the Starcom charger puts out 1 amp vs the .6 amp for the BB charger. Both put out 5 VDC. I wonder if there is some kind of coding in the mini USB that tells the Starcom charger to turn off if not plugged on to a Starcom PPC/Cell?
