Default invoke address book and get data from it....

Please Login to Remove!

Hi there,
I want to use the default Addressbook to let the user choose a contact and then work with this contact in my app...
So I thought about invoking the Addressbook in "ARG_COMPOSE -mode". Which works great. Problem is, how can I get the users choice? since invoke doesn't give any values back... does anyone know what happens when the user chooses a contact and presses the wheel/ball? Or has another idea how to offer the user a possibiltity to choose a contact?

I dont mean to let the user go to the address book manually, choose a contact and then run my app from appmenu (that works already...). I want to do it like at composing a sms...
press compose sms, ask to choose contact, take this contacts number and COMPOSE.......

hope you know what I mean

Default ...

I just recognized, that the compose email app automatically is started after the user have choosen a contact....
so I think it would also work for me if I knew how to change the content of this email which is then started.

Is that possible? I mean I know that I can invoke the email app with my own content...but now I want to put my content through the contact-choosing thing to the email....did anyone unterstand my problem? :-/

thx in advance
J

I've actually been wondering the same thing myself. I'd be interested to get an answer on this!

Thumbs up

Hi rnickel,
I didn't find a "real" solution, so I just wrote a little address book myself, to let the user choose a contact...
It's quite simple and works for my needs.
If it is enough your needs too and you need some help, just post it.....

I doing something similar where I open the contact list in my app but I'm running into the problem of selecting "Home address" or "Work address".

I setup a test contact that has both but retrieving one or the other is not working for me.

I'm using this:

if (contact.getAttributes(BlackBerryContact.ADDR, atrCount) == BlackBerryContact.ATTR_WORK)
elseif (contact.getAttributes(BlackBerryContact.ADDR, atrCount) == BlackBerryContact.ATTR_HOME)

its never true in any case.

Anyone have some tips?
