Default Problem with new OS for 8830 verizon

Please Login to Remove!

Downloaded the new 4,3 from BB. Installed fine. Went to this link to get the new OS for BB.

BlackBerry® Software Updates

When I click on the zip file to install, I always get " Version installed is newer...and will not install.
Any ideas.

That means you have the newest device OS. You're good to go.

Perhaps you download Desktop OS v4.3; there is no Handheld OS 4.3 for the 8830.

On the Verizon website, Desktop Manager 4.3 is not available. If I install 4.3 from the RIM site, will it work with Verizon 8830 without problems?

No new operating system for Verizon has been posted on the website- BlackBerry® Software Updates of personal edition (BIS).

I guess the latest software version was on 11/19/07, version 4.2.2.176

is this the same as the OS for Aliant Mobility Platform 3.0.0.79??

TIA

Yes, and it does not remember some settings after a reboot.

I did load the 4.3 desktop BB manager wich I guess is not yet released for Verizon. However, I do not have .176. I thouhg that was what the link was for on initial [post from the verizon website. It is that file that will not let me load on my BB. Guess I need to reload the 4.2 Desktop. 4.3 looks way cool compared to 4.2

Some people have reported problems with Desktop Manager 4.3 syncing properly with Office 2007.

Personally, I'd stay away from DM 4.3 for a while, at least until the service packs come out.. Have heard it isn't as good as 4.2.

In my opinion if what you have works and it isn't broken, there is no need to upgrade to fix it.

First off, I did not read and pay attention to the details on the Verizon. Now I see that the two downloads are for: 1. the Desktop software and 2. the OS Software. I had only DL the Desktop Software. I had DL 4.3 from the Blackberry webiste.

I think I will uninstall the 4.3, and reload the Verizon current Desktop which is 4.2. And if I have the guts I will try and load .176. Althouh their seems to be some problems with that load by some people.

You did the correct thing. I have found that my desire for upgrading is not good when Verizon does not support. Verizon has been good for me and seems to wait until the "bugs" are out before offering on their website.

I upgraded my phone to 176 and then my BES portion of the phone stopped functining. I went to Verizon and they were very helpful in correcting the issue.

What was happening is all my mailboxes were doubling up on their own. I showed the tech @ VZW and she was perplexed. In the end they gave me a new phone and told me not to upgrade to 176 until they corrected this issue.
