To my surprise, for the month of November I have so far racked up over 3100 text messages and 2569 minutes total I know I never used my cell phone this much before, but is this a little abnormal or does anyone else text and talk as much as I do?

I wouldn't say its excessive. You are looking at 98 minutes of talk time each day, and 119 text messages per day.
I use my phone for business and personal, and I am sure I pass 2500 minutes of talk time by the 15th of each month. I use JiveTalk, and as a result I dont send too many Text Messages, but if my chat messages were counted, I have more than a couple hundred per day.
The key to this is that I place my calls and send chat messages when its socially acceptable; not during meals, conversations, or time with my kids. Its all about perception.
