I just got my 8300 and have been trying to figure out how I can change the tone when I receive a text message. I would like to personalize it by sender but any change I would be happy with. Any ideas?

Maybe take a gander at your user manual? (Hint: Start in Profiles)

Ok, I figured it out. I didn't now I could go that in depth into the sound settings. My user manual doesn't cover this, I checked every page. But this is really easy, boy do I feel dumb now for even asking. Thanks for the help.

So, I might have missed this (I am reading this on my BB screen) but I didn't see whether it is possible to customize SMS tones by sender (I have done this for phone calls but not for txt messages). Any advice?
