Yes. You can contact one of the sponsors on this forum to purchase an unlock code. GSMPhoneSource is a good one.

I concur... I just had 3 different models unlocked. All through GSMPhoneSource.

It allows you to use your device on another carrier's network. For example, if you buy a BB from T-Mobile, but have an account with ATT, you can get the device unlocked and it will work on ATT's network.

Not true. I got my ATT Pearl unlocked by asking ATT for the unlock code. All for free.

Ditto...I had both T-Mobile and ATT unlock my BBs for free. They'll do it without any questions.
