Default caller id problem

Please Login to Remove!

Before anything, i did search for the issue before on bbforums but i believe my problem is a bit different.

When someone calls me i dont see their name but just the number. I have added all contacts in international format which is +countrycode number.

For people in USA etc you guys have country code and area code for us we dont have area code just country code.

So say, a landline number will be +973(Country code)17-2456543
for mobile it will be +973(country code)3-1234567

Total numbers are eight and 3 for country code. the only difference is 1st two digits of landline are 17 and 1st digit for mobile is 3.

how can i get blackberry to show me the name of the contact when they call me? it is really frustrating.

Have you set your own country code at phone dialer > options > smart dialing?

Remove the + from the contacts and the country code when it is the same.

removing the country code and + sign will create a hassle when i travel abroad. i am out of the country every 2 weeks or so and if i dont have my numbers saved in international format, it is a big hassle as i have to punch in the number manually along with the code.

stucker, ill try that and post back.

regards

ok, but that is what is likely causing your issue. Or, i should say, it causes about 90% of similar issues.

ok i managed to fix it.

Might help other people who dont have area code support in their country.

I changed the National Number length to 8, since my country has the total number to 8 plus 3 for country code. Once i changed it the caller id got fixed.

So just find out the total digits in one number minus the country code. take that number and put it in national number length and add your country code, after that it will work.

Hey--thanks for the update!

I'm using your solution mixed with the earlier posts to place an FAQ on the FAQ site.

What country are you, curious?
