Default Rogers Tethering Data Charges??

Please Login to Remove!

If I use my Curve as a modem to my PC and set up as per the instructions on the forum...

When used as modem to my PC - Will it consume my blackberry data as per my plan or will I be billed seperately as internet data (I'm on Rogers with a Blackberry data plan)??

Thanks!

EnR

Yes, it does use data.

A user from Rogers may confirm, but your contract with them will state how it is charged. I know for instance, TMo does not charge extra. I believe I had heard that Rogers does. Let's see what a Rogers user says...

and I am going to change your thread title to say Rogers for that reason.

Good luck, welcome to the Forums.

*Insert Hysterical Laughter* Roger's not charging you for something! There's my joke of the day!

They will most definitely charge you for the usage. It will come out of your data plan, but even with the larger plans you will quickly run out of data on that plan and then your tethering and normal usage will go into the overage rate.

Personally, I wouldn't use it on a regular basis!

Thank God we have Tmobile in the US...this Rogers Telecommunications Company seems a little Steep on all their prices and not very customer friendly.
Sorry to all of you who use Rogers!

I look at Roger's as the best of the worst:They're not great, but there's nothing better.

ATT in the US will also terminate your blackberry data plan if they suspect you using the blackberry as a tethered modem. I recieved a call from customer care threatening to discontinue my data service if i did not stop tethering and reduce my data usage below 4gb/month. Well i was not actually tethering and since i am on a premier account and have access to corporate reps all that happened was i put in a complaint against the caller and havent heard from them since.

Glad to here you were just not trying to p|ss everyone off! From what I hear, Rogers is not very forgiving and would charge you. I have teathered via ATT and it was so slow it was not worth the trouble and I purchased the ATT wireless broadband cards for my M1730
