Default DL New Desktop Software, Still having problems.

Please Login to Remove!

Hi All,
Made the switch from a pearl to a curve 8310 today and i'm trying to get autolock to work. I downloaded the desktop software that matches the phone's OS, but still get the " No application for your device" message. Any ideas?

Thanks a ton.

The desktop software and the phone OS are two different things.

You need to download and install the Handheld OS for the 8310 to your desktop also...

Desktop Manager and Handheld Manager do not need to match up at all. I am running DM v4.2 and a much higher release of the handheld OS.

You need to download the handheld OS in addition to DM.

Handheld OS installation on the PC needs to match the OS on the BB. As NJB said, Desktop Manager need not match.

"Blackberry Device Software" means the OS installed in your BB, Chad.

Go to your provider's web site, download the file that contains the OS in your BB (it may be an upgrade), and install it in your hard drive. The file is huge, ~85MB, so try using a higher speed Internet connection.

Desktop Manager requires this OS copy as a reference for advising what is installed in your BB, and to allow updating (if applicable) or deletion of software, video, and other file types.

I hope this helps.
